Proverbs 31

I write this as I prepare for my husband to work 2 hours away from our home. He will begin his new job as a GM on Monday and come home on the weekends... I hope that in his absence, I can continue to be all the things he says I am, supporting him in this new job and caring for our kids...

Proverbs 31: 11-12 poetically praises a virtuous wife, saying,

"Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life."

It then describes ways that she provides for her family: caring for, teaching, and loving them. She makes use of her available resources, she makes wise decisions, she invests for the future -- in a nutshell, she seeks to do good for her family.

My husband, though he may not remember, once told me that when he read Proverbs 31, he thought of me. I must say that is the one of the highest compliments I have ever been given, by anyone. So... that is who I will strive to be... a virtuous wife and mother who provides for her family: loving, caring, raising, teaching, training, and inspiring.

I'm a person

At bedtime last night, I was getting Emily dressed in her ballerina pajamas. She said she liked being a ballerina. We had a little conversation about dancing and twirling. She said she wanted a story about Princess Emily and Ballerina Emily. So I said, "Oh, are you Princess Emily the Ballerina." And her reply was, "No, I'm a person."

I think her daddy taught her that one last night... it made me smile.

I'm a person!!!

"Do you hear what these children are saying?" Jesus said, "Yes, I hear them. And haven't you read in God's Word, 'From the mouths of children and babies I'll furnish a place of praise'?" - Matthew 21:16 (The Message)

Fun at the Park

First Football Game

We took the kids to Spartanburg for their first football game. It was Presbyterian College versus Wofford College. The two teams haven't played each other since I was in college in 1996.
It is kind of a family rivalry since my dad and sister went to Wofford, but I went to PC. Too bad PC lost this match. Better luck next year... Go Blue Hose!!!
Sara and Emily had on the most adorable royal blue dresses with PC embroidered on it. And Henry sported his one piece Presbyterian College outfit. We all had fun cheering and watching the game.
The girls especially liked watching the big kids and their big cousins slide down the hill at the Wofford Stadium. It is a really great setup for the kids to enjoy the game while sliding down a hill... I didn't get any pictures of that. Oops.

Here are some cute pics of the kids...

First Day of Preschool 2008

It is
soooo good to be back in preschool! Henry is in the young toddler class this year and Sara and Emily are in the 2 year old class. At our preschool, we start things slowly with 1 hour days and 2 hour days until they are at the full 3 hour days next week.

Here's Henry after his first 1 hour day... poor thing couldn't stay asleep long enough to make it to his crib!!! I couldn't help but take pictures of him while he slept on the den floor by the kitchen. He slept on the floor while I unloaded the dishwasher, fed the girls, and while the girls pretended to sleep next to him... so sweet! Here is Sara and Emily pretending to be asleep with Henry, but they aren't really.

Aren't they all so cute?

I am ready for full days of preschool next week as 2 hours in the office is not quite long enough!
