Naptime

We have been struggling with nap time lately. When we put the twins in their room, they end up playing, pooping, crying...anything but sleeping.

But today....
Ah, today was another story. A day worth writing down and sharing.

It began with Henry falling asleep in his chair at the table. He was easily moved to his crib and is still asleep as I write this.

The twins started getting fussy and instead of our normal wind down, try to negotiate sleep, I decided to follow my wonderful husband's advice and separate them...

And so the story goes. Emily is sound asleep in her bed in her room and Sara is asleep in mommy and daddy's bed. Bless them for sleeping and granting mommy some much needed time alone.

A couple of twin free days

The girls are with Mamaw and Poppa for a long weekend. It is nice to have a break from the chaotic mornings when they are here. But I do find myself missing them and wondering what to do with my time. For the most part, Henry is a really good solo player and enjoys spending time exploring and playing without me right there.

It is now 9:30am on a Friday morning and I have already
  • unloaded the dishwasher
  • loaded the dishwasher
  • washed 2 loads of clothes
  • put away clean clothes
  • made up the beds
  • and managed to take a shower that ended with me blow drying me hair!!!
I never get that much done by this time a day. And sometimes I don't have that much done by the end of the day!
And so here I sit with my cup of coffee and a few moments to spare before taking the kitty to the vet. At least the only child going to the vet with me today will be Henry. Should be interesting.

Off to finish my cup of coffee... and maybe organize a closet!!!

Steps in our lives

When did they get so BIG???

I knew it would happen... in fact, I wanted it to. But now that it did, it makes me kind of sad...

The kids are all eating the same foods!!! I sat them down for dinner tonight.

Sara and Emily in BIG chairs and the table and And then I sat their plates down AND they all had the same food!!!

Pasta, fruit, cheese... of course, Henry's was cut in smaller chunks, BUT they were all eating the same thing!

Henry in his high chair pushed up to the table with no tray.

This is a HUGE step in our lives...

and just ONE of many steps we are taking lately...

Sara and Emily are potty training. Down to sleeping in pullups at naptime and diapers at nap. A few accidents here and there, but they are doing great for 2 1/2 year olds.

Henry is walking. Really getting good at it... he does the hallelujah walk with his hands in the air! It is too cute.

Our new kitty Cali is adjusting well to our house and our older cat Sasha is tolerating her.

The kids all start MMO/preschool on Tuesday, Sept. 2... I am counting down!!!

Now if we could just get Henry to sleep through the night...

A fresh start

I have been keeping a mac website, but fail to update it often since I am not on my mac much these days. The subscription is about to run out, so I thought I would give blogger a try. Perhaps, I will keep this up and begin to really help people keep in touch and hear about the daily ongoings of our family.

We are just a typical ordinary family trying to make extraordinary differences in the lives of our three kids.

Our twins, Sara and Emily are 2 1/2 and Henry just turned one in July.

Aren't they cute?
